My initial visit for an in-house 3D scan was fast, friendly and staff were very helpful. The entire experiencing was easy and comfortable. Unfortunately, the follow up left much to be desired. Customers are told to expect a follow-up within 72 hours to include your treatment plan. I did not receive a follow up until 9 days later and that update informed me that my impression trays were rejected and new trays/scans would be required. This was a confusing error, considering I did not do impression trays, opting instead for their in-house scanning service. They did offer to send new trays or perform a new scan at no cost; however, the long delays and lack of follow up give me significant concerns about proceeding with this company.
Taking my impressions was a little difficult. I have a small mouth so the tray was hard to get in and out without messing up the mold. Offering size options on the impression kit order form might be helpful to other people.

Amazing experience. Linda was super nice to me. The whole process was so smooth and fast.
My SmileGuide, India, was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. She was a delight to meet! Thanks, India, for flying in from Baltimore MD for the week to fill in so SmileDirectClub could keep my appointment.
Quick and easy, no complaints. The smile direct attendant was friendly and helpful.
My visit was with Ayana who was absolutely fantastic. She explained the process from start to finish in a very professional, extremely personable way and immediately put me at ease. I couldn’t wait to get started!
Going into the Charlotte store was a great experience-everyone there was so welcoming and kind! They got me checked in ahead of my scheduled appointment and out. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and answered all of my many questions about my smile journey!
They were pretty much professional in the office but, because she saw that I have been there already before, I felt like I was rushed out etc. Also, when she was scanning my teeth, she was a bit rough and when I put back on my retainers in the car, I noticed that a part of my gums was bleeding from the roughness of the scan.
The lady was very rude and condescending, trying to tell me that she'll only say it once and I should listen carefully when I asked her if the treatment covers aligning teeth so that the chewing is proper. Apparently, SDC will send aligners and all that which'll align/move the teeth but they bear no responsibility on your teeth bite. I was surprised because when the teeth move, they should move such that the upper and lower teeth can fit into each other for a proper bite, but SDC bears no responsibility for this is the bite is off and I have heard reviews that this happens often.
She did not hear my questions and kept asking for my credit card number again and again. When I asked her my concerns, she started coming back to credit card. After that she got very upset and started banging her foot and being extremely unprofessional. i will never come back here and advise anyone of color or who asks question to stay away as well. Made me feel unsafe and unwelcome. Just imagine, how can you trust people like these with your teeth and smile? If tomorrow, you have any problem or questions, there is no way they'll listen and help. People like these will never empathize with you and are only interested in $$$. Your smile is priceless, stay away from hungry wolves like these.
I am so glad I was able to protect myself and uncover the thin veneer of superficial 'friendliness'. I would not want to be fooled into signing up and giving my hard-earned $$$ to someone who has no interest in explaining and who interrupts my questions and tells that she will only say it once. wft???
Joel was extremely friendly, knowledgable, sanitary (with regards to covid precautions), and helpful. You could tell that he takes pride in his job and in the company's mission. I was very impressed. However, I am only giving 4 stars and not 5 for the overall experience, because I had to wait over 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time before I was able to meet with someone. Joel is 5 stars in my book, but the experience that I had prior to meeting with him did not make a great impression. As soon as I got there, someone handed me an Ipad to check-in, and then all the staff members just completely disappeared into the back of the office out of sight for 30 minutes. There was no communication with me or any of the others waiting about what was going on and how much longer it would be before we were able to be seen. Hopefully it was just an off-day, but if you take my card information and have a $25 fee for missed/late appointments, and I make the effort to be there 10 minutes early then one would expect that the three staff members would be present in the lobby (at least one person out of three) to keep everyone up to date on how long we're going to be waiting and why we're waiting. What's the point of an appointment or a $25 fee if the company doesn't follow the same standards that they ask of potential/current customers?
The impression phase of this program was not too bad. I have had aligners in the past so I was somewhat familiar with the process.
Mixing the putty is not difficult but I would have much preferred it pre mixed and packaged in a tube or syringe. This way it is easier to guide the putty in the aligner to a more even distribution of putty.
So that’s not really a huge deal. The rest was a breeze. Just a matter of setting a timer. It was no mess and took a total of less than 30 minutes from start to finish.
The Case

Original order of invisible aligners – 06/11/2018. I wear the aligners continuously until December 2019 (18 months).
Considering I had followed strictly the instructions wearing the series of aligners sent to me, I did not get the "Perfect Smile" promise in the agreement and advertises in the general media and web sites.
Considering yet that Smile Direct Club has the responsibility over the design and number of aligners, they breached the contract and had stalked me months after months in the attempt to collect amounts I did not owe.
I placed a complain on January 2020 requesting they stop charging me any eventual amount and to reimburse me for the total amount paid: $1,988.40 to that day.
Never heard a word from SMILE DIRECT CLUB until they send me an unacceptable proposal to set the case on December 2020. I answered with a fair counteroffer on Jan 7,2021, without any return until the present date.
My statements are supported by documents, photos, and emails.
Reimbursement of the total amount paid: $1,988.40, plus indemnity of $25,000.00 to cover losses of money, time, physical damages and psychological stresses.
Had an appt got in 30 minutes later than appt time. First associate was kind, explained everything and took scan. Second associate comes in to “second check” but she tries hard selling when I clearly stated my reason for waiting. When I said I need a week to resolve something and then get back to her she gives me an attitude tells me to grab my bag and her assistant will call me and she storms out of the room and shows me the way off the bus. Haven’t heard back from anyone and everyone else leaving their appt had a goody bag and I didn’t get anything. That’s not going to sell me the brand at all even if I had intended on committing - now I have no intent of coming back.
Went in to the Westheimer location for my scan it took about 15 minutes overall it was quick and easy. Tanya was super helpful and friendly and answered all my questions.
